Dawn opposes Lobbying Bill

A large number of Bristol South residents have contacted Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, expressing concerns about the Government’s Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Bill.

Many people are understandably worried about the potential impact of the legislation on non-party political campaigning by charities and voluntary organisations.

Dawn, who recently attended an event in support of the “Stop the Gagging Bill” campaign, said:

“I share my constituent’s concerns about this Bill which could have a chilling effect on the quality of our national debate if the concerns of charities and other organisations are not fully addressed.  Labour MPs have opposed this Bill in Parliament and will continue to do so unless this piece of legislation is greatly improved.”
